Once I had a dream…
Ever since he was chosen by the International Wine and Vine Bureau to represent Spain at the 1st World Contest of Sommeliers, held in Milan (Italy) in 1972, José María had always thought about the need to make his own wine.
In 1987 José María headed up the project with a clear dream in mind; to make a wine of the highest quality. The slopes of Carraovejas, in Peñafiel, historical cradle of the Ribera del Duero, constituted the ideal enclave.
The company began with the study of the soil and the choice of varietals and clones best suited to the ecosystem to obtain an outstanding choice of fruit. The following year the planting of the three main varietals got underway: Tempranillo or Tinto Fino, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
EIn 1991 the first crop was born, which would serve as a witness to the untiring efforts made each year to achieve excellence in each and every process. Ever since the first grape harvest, care for the fruit has been one of the main objectives, in addition to using yeasts and bacteria from their own Pago de Carraovejas vineyard in fermentation in order to achieve wines of singular sensitivity.
The purpose of this dream project is the motto of outdoing ourselves with each harvest. Currently, the winery has modern facilities, harmonizing traditional forms of production along with the most advanced technologies, always with a deep respect for natural processes.
The vineyard measures a total of 160 hectares and is in full production, resulting in a unique wine, with its own personality which is sought after through much of the world, with an intensity and a character that it obtains and treasures by taking care of and selecting the grapes that will be transformed into the personalized sensations that originate from their own bunches, and which with then produce highly expressive aromas, an intense colour, a meaty, powerful and exuberant flavour in which they display the individual characteristics that each one of the grape varietals offers. Tasty, elegant, docile and vigorous at the same time, these wines are capable of transmitting deep fragrances and palates, an experience rich in nuances that makes them linger on in our memory.
We keep on dreaming, we keep on building the future
